| I know MOM has been keeping an eye on us. Just thought I'd check in. I will probably loose power on Monday and don't know how long we will be without electricity. 3 years ago for Katrina, we had no electricity for a week.
I live in Jefferson Parish. (we have parishes instead of counties) Jefferson is about 15 minutes from the city of New Orleans. I left out yesterday evening to try to beat the heavy traffic flow that has started today and will continue through tomorrow. Contraflow is expected to start at 4am tomorrow morning.
I am now in Tangipahoa Parish. Which is not far enough away for me. I am not a ruffing it/camping type person. Going without electricity and water for a week "killed" me.
My Dad just left here this morning. He is going back to the city before contraflow traffic starts. He has volunteered to run communication at the hospital there. I hate to see him go. He has always had to work during hurricanes and it has never been easy to let him go. (Hell, the stories I could tell you about Katrina, and we made out SO much better than most.)
Just wanted to check in. Let you know where I am at, just in case you're watching this on your local news. I'm sure we will loose power. If that happens, I'll be sure to check in as soon as the internet is back up.

| Ok girlfriend. Thanks for checking in. My car ended up in the shop yesterday and Steven had to get a haircut this morning with my dad so I wasn't able to get to the post office. Do you want me to just hold off mailing till I hear from you after the storm? I'd hate to see the package get lost in this mess, you waited so long for it. | |

| Your dad is a great man... He really is. I admire people who give freely of themselves, despite such events... He is a true hero.
I'll be praying for the both of you, along with all of New Orleans.

| Yea, we are home and have power we in Jeferrson Parish too, in the ghetto, our house alarm doesnt work, so its scary, but its all good besides that. Anything is better than Katrina, when I was here for the whole thing working- I worked for 911 so, at least I was able to leave this time- Ike looks like it may be coming this way now.....lovely | |

Thanks My Grandparents still don't have power in Tangaphoia Parish. I really didn't want to leave them there. They were more than welcome to come to my house, but they would loose everything in their freezer if they left. There would be no one there to run the generator.

| Good to hear they have a gennie though. I think throwing food out and daily shopping are the worst part of lengthy power outages. Now if I had a well, I'd really hate the lack of water situation. We had that happen at camp one summer in one lodge that was on a different circuit from the gen. We had a conference of about 30 middle schoolers that came to breakfast smelling like a locker room....eyeewww.
Tomorrow we get the remnants of Hannah....I spelled it correctly cuz the NWS are idiots. It's gonna be really soggy and a little breezy. I'm going to do my post office run and mall trip early so I can be home for the worst of it.

| Yeah, my Grandparent's have well water where you need electricity to run the pump. Thank God for the generator that they have. It's not a huge one, but it's enough to run the water pump and the fans. And, it will run the washing machine if you turn everything else off.
Try to stay dry this weekend

| My Dad is fine, thanks.
He worked Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at the hospital. And, he worked Thursday at a Red Cross station.
I haven't unpacked yet. I'm still watching Ike. This would be a first for me. If we have to evacuate for Ike it will be the first time I've ever evacuated twice in a single year.

| As of today, it's looking good for us. So far, they predict Ike is traveling to the west of us. We will still be on the rainy side, but it won't be a direct hit. If we have to leave again, I will keep you posted.
Yeah, Beautifulghoul is one of my Hell Raisers. She evacuated to Nashville.
FireAngel (another one of my Hell Raisers) came with me to the Dreaming shows in Alabama. She evacuated to Pensacola. As did Monica.
Krissy (she came with me to the Louisiana shows) evacuated to Montgomery
Christine Sixxteen evacuated to Arkansas
We are all back home now. We haven't seen each other since we got back. After we find out what Ike is doing, we need to plan a reunion.
I remember for Katrina, we had last seen each other in August the Thursday before the hurricane hit us. It was November before we all came back and planned a "get together". I remember it well. It was an Appetite For Destruction show at Southport Hall.

| Since I came to the light? dark? side of the Force, it still amazes how music brings people together and creates communities. I consider myself so fortunate to have become a part of more than one of those communities.
Oh and it was good to hear that your dad is doing ok too. Give him a hug from me.
